Last night was the most incredible birthday party I have ever had! I have the utmost honor of turning "50" this coming Wednesday! Which at first was depressing me and than, all of a sudden, God has made me realize how extraordinary life has been for the past 50 years.....all the wonderful blessings that He has given me. Wonderful family and great friends!

Last night, Connie called me and asked me if I wanted to go to the Olive Garden so she could treat me to a birthday dinner! Of course I accepted. I love to spend time with Connie any chance we can get! Anyway, we get to the Olive Garden and Pam comes waltzing across the parking lot. Connie says, "I hope you don't mind if Pam joins us!" Of course not......Anyway, we go inside and Connie leads the way to a room way in the back and here's an entire table of all of my "sisters" wishing me a Happy Birthday! It was incredible! Bev, Amy, Mary, Connie, Wanda, Wendi & Bev! We had the best time! I hadn't been out past midnite for ages......we wanted to go do kareyoke (sp?), but all the bars were a little "rank" to say the least. We opted for the Blue Canyon Grill and played pool and yakked for a long while!

What an honor it is to be given so much love and friendship for your birthday! I truly was surprised and so excited to be with everyone that I love so much! Thank you Dear Lord for all of these wonderful people and the wonderful life you have given me because of your son!

Once a month!

Wow! This once a month bloggin stuff is amazing! Where does time go?? Just keeps on going by & by & by....... Alot has happened in the last month though! Needless to say. My husband came within about a "tenth of a second" of losing his life to a bank robber! God was obviously with Case and gave him the strength, stamina and where-with-all to be able to get his gun out and fire a couple of rounds off, catch the bank robber, and be able to live to tell about it! It was one of the most frightening experiences he's ever had, as well as myself! Cops have a saying,"I will go home tonight." I'll have you know that he kissed the floor when he walked into the house on 2 weeks ago tonight! Only 1/100 of police officers ever have to fire their weapon, let alone shoot at someone! It's been very emotional and really puts things into perspective! It turned out that they were out of Idaho and part of the malecia! They had a list a "mile long", the F.B.I. was hot on their trail, and their step-dad is an accomplished & has several cases of assualt & burglary on him. He's been in prison for 4 yrs.! "YIKES"! I realize more & more how much I rely on God to take care of the men in my life. Between police, fire & army stuff, it's enough to drive a mother & wife nuts!! Thanks you God for all you cease to amaze me with!

Kayley & I spent the day up at CSU today scouting out college "stuff"! Wow! It would be so much fun to be able to go back to college! I was so totally blown away at the stuff they have at that university in the health sciences dept. Would you believe I actually made it through a cadeavor (sp?), brains & a liver??? It was so informative and amazing to see the different things about our bodies! If I was 5 years younger, I'd go back into medicine in a "heart beat"! Nursing school has a 2 year waiting period right now and I'd be ready to retire about the time I'd start! Oh well...........

Young Case is doing abosolutely awesome in his field. He's almost completed his Assoc. Deg. in Fire Science, has a great job as an ER Tech and so many opportunities for firefighting, etc., etc., etc.,! He is really having a great time! Unfortunatley, his unit at Ft. Carson is next to be deployed. Still several months out, but anytning could happen...........

Life is amazing and continues to have many blessings! My best to all as the harvest of Fall continues on in our "Season of Life"!

"Watch Out for the Dog!"

So, what do you do when you're walking in the hallway and you have 2 black dogs and you manage to fall over one of them! "Poor Maxine!" I landed right on her with both knees on the floor. Going from the bedroom to the bathroom, and there she was. Our 13 year old "weiner dog!" My husband Case, (in all his glory) wanted to know if he should call the fire dept.!!! "Very funny dear!" I think I can handle it! Anyway, that's the excitement for a Saturday night around here! It really was quite entertaining to sit on the floor and crack-up with the dogs and my husband! It's amazing how simplistic life becomes as we get older! The kids are both doing their "own thing"! Son, Case, has been on "stand-by" for the gulf coast for about a week now. Iraq will be next. Sometime during the next year, since he has been transferred to Ft. Carson. His unit is up next when Unit 922 comes back in about 11 months. He's just landed a great job as an ER Tech at a hospital up north, working in pediatrics! He loves kids! Our daughter Kayley is busy with her senior year and enjoying it to the "hilt"! She will be accepted at both CU & CSU and needs to decide where she is going to pursue her future in health sciences in the field of physical therapy & sports medicine. Whatever happens.......I only know we will be broke!!! Oh well! Life has a way of doing that! But, it's all worth it! God has an amazing way of blessing us with so many amazing things! God is so good!

Hope you all have been doing well! Just felt the "urge" to blog tonite! Much has happened in the past few months. I've built a house in Mexico with several others, endured several obstacles in my personal life in regards to my family and my spiritual journey too! So many times, God comes & goes in astounding ways! Ceasing to amaze me even more........

Oh! To be a Mom!!!

So, what do you do when your daughter plays championship lacrosse and she's bawling her eyes out because the coach takes her out at the second half and her "self esteem" goes out the window??? Not knowing what she did, other than she developed a lack of her own conciousness and the coach is fully aware of it! You cry, because you hurt for your child.....you think the coach is a "jerk" because she is so wrapped up in the "stupid" game that she doesn't give a rats-ass about "your kids" feelings!! When the team wins the game, you feel bad because your kid wasn't a part of the final game. Oh, the joys of parenthood.......

The joys of political sports! What have we done to our kids society? We try to teach our kids to be good, honest, fair, but yet speak up for what they think is right........! I'll tell you what, this job of being a parent is for the birds sometimes. It hurts alot. I can only imagine how God feels looking at us, making such stupid judgement calls and plays in our own books sometimes. We think we have problems. All I can say is that I'm sure glad God has the upper hand in all of this and that I can turn it over to him! Life seems to be a little scattered with things going on. It seems that in some ways my faith is going through a "testing stage"! I feel a little numb lately due to some of the ordeals that have been set before me. Alot of things with my personal life are going on now that were going on right before Jesus saved me and changed my life. I know this is the key element, "changed my life "forever"!! But it seems like guilt, bitterness and anger have a way of grabbing onto my soul in a way that used to pull me down pretty hard!

I'm not doing well with taking care of my parents. Too many painful regrets and resentment just keep coming up. Others issues as well! Too much of the past that needs to be let go again. Personal issues in relationships. Need time to pray and reflect.

God has been so awesome in so many ways! Blessings are everywhere. "Young Case" graduated yesterday from his fire academy with a 93% overall. Basically, #2 in his class. He is so passionate about what he is doing and doing very well! Just sorry we couldn't make his graduation. The weather kind of put a "damper" on things, but he is very forgiving and just looking forward to a lobster dinner when he gets home for awhile.

Kayley continues to do awesome things too! Her lacrosse is amazing! She scores at least once, mostly twice in all of her games. She is planning on going to CSU to major in Sports Medicine. She is very excited about her future!

I'm looking forward to spending time with my sister in Christ, "Connie" this weekend. Hopefully, we can take time to be with eachother, but most of all be with God.

"Arrrrrrrrrggggggghhhhhhhhh!

That's definitely the way I feel today! Must be the time change........Everyone is just "blah" and somewhat "edgy"! I know that the weather, the wind, the time change all affect my mood and the way I feel! Needless to say that life has been very crazy lately! Way too busy dealing with mom issues and work issues. When I don't find time to reflect, pray and spend time with God, my life tends to go a.w.o.l. Too many of my old habits and feelings start too surface when I have to deal with things like I'm dealing with. Too much guilt and anger.......Not a good combination! Only praying for Gods peace into the whole situation. We work hard through our lives to establish relationships not only with our families, others, but with our Lord & Savior. Relationships that are true.

Anyway, I apologize for not blogging much lately. Hopefully life will settle down somewhat! The family is doing great! Kayley is playing awesome lacrosse and doing very well in school! Young Case scored 100% on his last written final and will graduate with his "MOS" as a firefighter 2 next Monday. Only wish we could be there to share in his celebration. He apparently is getting some award as well. He has done exceptionally well! We are really looking forward to seeing him soon! Old Case retires from the fire dept. in one month. After 20 years of volunteer service for the City of Golden! It's kind of ironic that Young Case becomes a firefighter almost the same month his "old man" retires!

Life takes on many different perspectives as we get older. We cherish the relationships we have so much more. Give thanks for all that God has given us so much more freely!

Adios Amigos!! Oh my gosh! A day to reflect and meditate about who God is. What He's done and what He's doing in our lives.........I love this time of year. A time of renewal. On March 23rd, I will be 3 years old according to Christ! The Day of my Salvation. By Grace I was saved! I absolutely love it!! A time of re-birth, a time of renewal!

Case and I will be leaving for Cancun here in 4 days. I'm just getting a little excited!! Looking forward to spending time in the sun, with the one I love to be with! Sharing & loving the time, with the man God blessed me with almost 25 years ago! "Just blows me away!" Time goes by so darn quickly....."Life is but a vapor"! So true.........

Son, Case, is doing excellent! He called last night to tell his he only missed "1" question on his Firefighter ! & 2 test! He has a 98% in his class right now. He truly is "passionate" about what he is doing in the military! He is, however, looking forward to coming home for awhile. Hopefully, for a few months, before who knows what????Iraq? Definite possibility. Just keep praying........

Kayley went to the Mammoth game today (our professional lacrosse team here in Colorado)! Apparently, she was chosen to go down on the field with one other guy at 1/2 time. She had to do some sort of a relay with putting on a jersey, gear and making a couple of goals against this other guy! She came in 2nd........She won a Mommoth t-shirt, hat, and a camel back water supply back pack. This child ceases to amaze me! She is the fastest kid on her high school lacrosse team~she runs about a 7 min. mile or less! And has "no fear"! God has amazing things in store for this girl! I have no doubt! She is planning on majoring in sports medicine in another year at CSU!

God continues to bless me day after day after day after day! I am really learning about "patience" these days! God is giving me some great insight into this matter! Putting lots of trials and tribulations in my path to either overcome or take on. It's my choice, with His help!
Amazing grace.........if only we ask for it and take it in!

"My Gang"

Tuesday, March 8th, 2005

I can't remember the last time I tried to function on 1 hour of sleep over a 48 hour time span.......It's been awhile! Unfortunately, last night was not one of lifes more unpleasant experiences. My 86 yr. old mother called me to inform me she was calling an ambulance because she had fallen at "Burger King" and she was just sure she'd broken her hip! Needless to say, I'm like, "Mom! Don't be crazy! I'll be right there to take you"! Needless to say, I get there and I became very hesitant to move her myself, for fear she would fall again. We called the ambulance and they came running!!! Being married to a cop & firefighter has conditioned me somewhat to incidents of this nature. I don't tend to get too terribly emotional by the crisis! Sometimes good, sometimes not so good!

They took mom to Lutheran Hospital at 5:30. I'll have you know, we sat in the "hallway" for a total of 3 1/2 hrs. before they finally took her for xrays. I have never seen so many "women" that were hurt. Mostly younger women with black eyes, wheezing from chest problems and several female issues. It really made me stop and think about the health and wellbeing of our society. Could be situations of domestic violence, aborted pregnancies, abusing your body. You name it! I saw it last night! I prayed a lot for the people that were there. My heart ached for the crying injured and also the staff that was drained from the full load they had to take care of!

Amazingly enough, my dear mom did not break her hip! Thank you God! At about 3:00, we finally got to take her home. She can barely walk, but with time, she will get better. She is house-ridden until the soreness and the pain subsides and she regains some of her balance. So, I will be taking care of her again for a few more days. Full load, but God helps me out! She is an amazing independent lady for her age and her patience is very small when it comes to stuff like this! I'm convinced she's going to live to be at least 95! Oh my gosh, how old will that make me???

Looking forward to a good nights sleep! My mother managed to pull my chain today by warning me of the Mexican rebels that killed 27 Americans in Cancun because they refused to take drugs across the border. My brother alerted her to this fact only because Case & I are headed to the Riviera Maya, (south of Cancun) in 2 weeks. Mind you, we are celebrating our 25th wedding anniversary and I have literally been saving $3/day in my underwear drawer for the past 2 1/2 years for this trip!

Anyway, my mom has a way of exploiting nothing into a massive bomb! It just drives her nuts anymore that I don't let her get to me. I give it to God and don't worry about it! As a result, she thinks I am a very rebellious "almost 50 year old" mom of two of my own "sometimes rebellious teenagers"!

Life is amazing when you look at the context of what makes a mom. I used to "sweat" things like this, but needless to say, "Don't worry about tomorrow, for today has its own set of worries". Give it to God, because of Him, All things are possible!!

Thursday, March 3, 2005

This is absolutely, 150% rediculous!!!! Just can't seem to keep up the blogging........Ya know the old saying, "The farther I go, the behinder I get!" Sometimes life is that way! The older we get, the faster time goes. It's no joke! I keep thinking that if God just gave me 2 more hours a day, I'd have it made! He obviously knows me better than that! Make every minute count though! Just remember what you're living for. Not yourself, but for God! Somehow that tends to put everthing into a much brighter and much bigger picture. When you realize that you aren't the one in charge of this whole situation.

What did you give up for lent? Anything????? I actually gave up sweets! Been doing pretty well too! Managing to lose weight while I'm at it and working out more to maintain good health. You start realizing things so much more when you reach my age. Realizing that you only have one life (not 9) ! Not taking so much for granted either! Being ever so thankful for all the blessings of the season!

Sunday, February 20th, 2005

Today was a good day! I actually kind of, almost, got to sing a solo in spirited ensemble today! Felt good! "Fairest Lord Jesus". Very nice song.....one we all probably know....."Beautiful Savior". I enjoyed being able to sing for the Lord! "Service" was the topic of discussion today. So many awesome stories from people that each received $100 and were asked to see what God would have them do with this money! Well, needless to say, God worked some pretty amazing action in about 4 people. To the tune of about $7,000 overall! It was so cool to hear the testimonies and how these monies were being used. Being fed by living water. Through the Holy Spirit! I love this time of year.....it is such a time of rebirth and renewal!

I'm still trying desperately to get pictures on my blog.....somehow it will happen soon! Today was pretty amazing day! I spent a lot of time just talking to this person and that person! Touching base, and just cultivating the soil to make good things happen. My heart pours out to Greg & Wendy. Greg is trying so hard to become a "whole person" again. I just hope he can stay strong and not push himself too much. Realizing that his fear is his worst enemy. My heart just aches for them.

It just amazes how God puts all of my motherly instincts into action sometimes. But, realizing what it is that He wants me to do with my life by helping others, it's always so awesome to see what comes of each and every day.

I loved talking with my son today! He's doing great too! Went to rodeo! Yeehaaa! It's just neat to witness your kids coming of age and becoming young adults in whatever they do!

Friday, February 18, 2005

Kind of a quiet day.....just taking things in stride. I took part of the day and spent it with my darling dautghter (who doesn't realize how darling she is most of the time) and we went shopping. She was feeling rather slighted because she is still somewhat swollen from her wisdom tooth extraction and looking like a chipmunk. No matter what I said, it wasn't good enough. She was very, very negative........about everything. Makes life really interesting when you think you're spending "quality" time with your child! I've come to learn that it's all part of lifes lessons and Gods way of saying, "It's up to you baby!"

We had both of the dogs shaved today at the groomer! Are they ever hilarious!! Poor things! If only I could figure out how to get pictures on this blog. JR will come through again.....I have no doubt.

Young Case is doing very well at his AIT training at Goodfellow AFB. He called today and expressed how the new drill seargent didn't like "cussing", and that he had no time for it either. His "battle buddy" uses every word starting with "f". Get the picture? Should be interesting! It's so reassuring to know that Young Case is doing very well and is maintaining an "A"in his studies. He seems to really be adapting to being on his own and building on what God has in store for him. It is so awesome to see your kid blossom into an adult! Eventhough I miss him soooooooo much. God is with him every bit of the way. I know that! Thanks be to God. He works amazing things if we let him.

February 16, 2005

I really am back to "blogging"!!! Yea!! Thanks to JR, the master blogger!!

So here we go, once again.......Home from work today due to the fact that 17 yr. old daughter, Kayley had her wisdom teeth out! It wasn't nearly as bad as we were making it though. It turned out she only had 2 left. They originally thought she had 3. The 2 she had left were both upper too. So they weren't too deep! She opted for the "IV" to be put out so she wouldn't have to listen to the lovely sound of crunching and pulling! When she was done, I went back and sat next to her. She looked a little wierd. She said she felt like she was "stoned"! Needless to say, just what every mom wants to hear. Right? She actually wanted to go to school for an hour for a Physics lab. A little skeptical and concerned, on my part, I finally gave in knowing she would be with her best friend who would look out for her.

She's at home now, lounging on the couch watching "SharkTales"! It reminds me of the old days when they used to stay home from school and be sick and we could cuddle, read & just be the "2 of us" all day! Being a mom is an amazing thing! I truly will miss these times!

February 1st, 2005

YEA!!!!! I CAN BLOG AGAIN....YET.....STILL.....WHATEVER! THANK YOU JR & TRICIA!! We had way too much fun last night setting this sucker up! Thank's for JR's expertise in the world of Blogger. I definitely could not have done it without you! Now, if I just don't lose my password again, I'll be fine!

Life is good. God is Great! My brother had extensive back surgery today and is doing very well. With his condition of muscular dystrophy, he has developed severe scoliosis over the years. Thanks to modern medicine, I think he just grew about 2 inches with all the protein packs they put in his vertebrae. He has a great sense of humor that the Good Lord blessed him with and is taking the whole situation in stride.

Spending the entire day at the hospital though, is not my idea of fun! It makes you realize just how blessed we are as healthy souls. Even at my age!! Ha!
